969 (formally called MTV Select or Select) was a one-hour-a-day-five-days-a-week lifestyle magazine show. It was produced from the Citytv building in Vancouver, British Columbia. The show was hosted by Lauren Toyota, Joel Herrod, Chris Van Vliet and Jessica Reddy. It features interviews with bands, celebrities and professional athletes. It also showcased the latest in youth fashion and gives reviews of the hottest video games and movies. Viewers were able to make requests to see music videos through the show's website.
Initially hired as a junior production assistant in charge of filming and producing the daily behind-the-scenes moments that were sprinkled throughout the show before or after a segment and one video game review per week. "Ray" an animated conservative 8-bit character who dislikes, yet reviews, the graphical advancements in today's newest games was born and quickly become a favorite on the show. Within 3 months, CJ was floor directing 5 shows and producing 2-3 segments a week.
The show was officially canceled in summer of 2007.
