Narcolepsy was the award-winning entry in the 2005 Reelfast 48 Film Competition which included over 40 teams, ranging from established industry professionals to first-timers. The short was chosen as a runner-up for "Best Editing" and received a "Top Ten Film Award" - the highest honor available in the competition.
The story chronicals the events of 3 very repetitive days involving a narcoleptic man's secret obsession with infomercials and a strange woman he has never spoken to.
Teams were encouraged to submit ideas for guidelines for the other teams film's, as well as a craft service item, which would all be thrown in massive piles. Each team gathered in a warehouse on West 2nd avenue and was asked to pick a random location, item, sound clip and prop from the various piles which had to be creatively incorporated into the movie in under 48 hours.
Narcolepsy's items were:
Location: A Hot Tub
Item: Photograph of hands on a steering wheel
Sound Clip: Thomas Newman-esque Score Piece
Prop: Plastic Cel-Phone
