Created as a part of the 2009 edition of the 24 hour Film Racing challenge, which provides filmmakers two pieces of criteria that must be creatively included in a film that must be 4 minutes or less and fully executed in 24 hours time.

The Hornet suffered a neighborhood wide power outage shortly after filming was completed, stealing 5 of the 9 hours the team had remaining before the 10pm deadline. The version submitted and available online was edited, mixed and completed in under 3 hours.

Despite setbacks, of the 41 teams that entered competition - The Hornet was awarded 'Best Acting' (Jen & Sylvia Soska), Best Visual Effects (Jeffrey Zablotny), and 3rd Runner Up for 'Best Film.'
